Requirements --

l Abhyang table – soft cushioned surface of the table in vata prakruti & hard table in kapha prakruti.
l 2 litres of medicated oil
l 18 inches square pieces of cloth ,4 in number
l Gindi --- vessel with tubular outlet

Procedure – First healthy person or patient  client is given full body massage ,better synchrone massage  . Head end of the table is raised by 6 inches  ,by placing two 6 inches high wooden blocks beneath the two legs.2 liters of oil is heated approximately up to 45 degree centigrade in  water bath .Now  for oil pouring ,the cloth piece is folded many times to reduce Its size to approximately 3 inches by width & 2 inches by thickness .This cloth piece is soaked in warm oil. For pouring of oil therapist should hold this cloth between the fingers & flat of the palm with thumb extended. While pouring the oil the thumb is held at a height of 9 inches from surface of client’s body. For pouring of oil instead of cloth small special vessel  , known as gindi having tubular outlet may be used.Even a vessel having multiple minute pores may be  used for pouring herbal decoction

As the oil is poured with one hand on to clients body, therapist gently moves his other palm over skin following the path of oil is poured. This simultaneous Abhyanga , prevents over heating due to stasis of the warm oil on skin. The direction of moving palm is from above downwards in extremities & from below upwards in the trunk.
